How We Personally Test Every Lodge Before Recommending It
At Oloi Shorua, every lodge we recommend has been visited in person. Before a property appears in any itinerary we design, someone from our team has stayed there, driven the game areas, eaten the food and slept in the rooms.
Why We Visit Every Lodge
No two camps in Africa are the same. A lodge may occupy a strong wildlife area but have weak guiding. Another may have extraordinary design but poor access. Written descriptions and photography reveal very little of what a stay actually feels like. Personal experience is the only reliable measure.
What We Evaluate
Location within the ecosystem is the first consideration. Whether a camp sits in a private conservancy or inside the national reserve determines what activities are possible. Guide quality and vehicle standards follow. Room comfort, food, camp atmosphere and service consistency complete the picture. Conservation and community relationships are non-negotiable in any property we recommend.
What This Means for You
When we suggest a specific lodge for your itinerary, it is because we believe it is the right match for your travel style, the season and the landscape you are visiting. The recommendation comes from direct experience, not from brochures or commission structures.
