Over decades, he’s wandered through 38 countries across five continents, collecting stories, tastes, and moments that transformed him. The whispers of landscapes, the laughter of strangers, and the hush at dawn in unknown lands—they all stitched themselves into his soul.
A Spark in Africa, and a Dream That Grew
In 1998, a journey to Africa changed everything. Amid red earth, acacia silhouettes, and the roar of distant lions, Shantanu felt he had come home. Inspired, he built Oloi Shorua—a bespoke travel company born from awe, respect, and a desire to share transformative experiences.
A Masai Chief named him “Oloi Shorua”, meaning “the blessed one”—a name that echoes his deep bond with Africa’s spirit.

As Director of Oloi Shorua (OPC) Pvt Ltd, Shantanu blends his first-hand insights into African and Indian wildlife with careful curation, to create journeys that resonate with each traveller’s heart.
He collaborates with trusted partners across Johannesburg, Cape Town, Addis Ababa, Lusaka, Mfuwe, Malawi, Nairobi, and Mombasa—ensuring every expedition feels intuitive, intimate, and alive.
He also leads Oloi Shorua Latin America SRL, carrying his philosophy of meaningful travel to lush forests, ancient ruins, and hidden corners of Latin America.
