Experiencing Luxury in Wayanad & Bekal
Travelogue: Experiencing Luxury Travel in Wayanad and Bekal
Arrival in Calicut
Arriving in Calicut, the gateway to Northern Kerala, our luxury travel adventure to Wayanad and Bekal began with ease. The road wound gracefully upward, and along the way, we passed spice plantations and rolling hills covered in lush greenery. The aroma of cardamom and coffee drifted through the air, adding to the charm.
Discovering Wayanad’s Hidden Wonders
Wayanad is often called Kerala’s hidden gem, and it quickly proved why. At check-in, our luxury eco-resort—nestled among misty hills—felt like a sanctuary.
The next morning, we woke to the melody of birdsong. Our itinerary was rich in natural experiences. First, we visited Banasura Sagar, India’s largest earthen dam. Then, a trek led us to Soochipara Waterfalls, where clear waters tumbled down layered cliffs. In addition, a hike to Chembra Peak rewarded us with panoramic views, while the prehistoric Edakkal Caves revealed fascinating petroglyphs.
The highlight, however, was spotting wild elephants during a safari in Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. That moment truly captured the essence of luxury travel in Wayanad.
Serenity and Cultural Encounters
The following day unfolded at a slower pace. A private yoga session on a hillside refreshed our minds, while an Ayurvedic spa treatment restored our energy. Later, we wandered through emerald tea plantations and met tribal communities who welcomed us warmly. These cultural exchanges added depth to our luxury journey.
Journey to Bekal’s Coast
Reluctantly leaving the mountains, we drove towards Bekal. The transition from highland forests to golden beaches felt seamless. Our beachfront resort greeted us with sea breezes and stunning views. That evening, we explored Bekal Fort, a 17th-century stronghold that overlooks the Arabian Sea. Palm trees framed the sunset, creating the perfect photograph.
Coastal Bliss in Bekal
Bekal offered a new rhythm of coastal luxury. We enjoyed peaceful strolls along Kappil Beach and tried water activities at Bekal Hole Aqua Park. Furthermore, cultural exploration in Nileswaram introduced us to ancient temples and vibrant local performances. We also visited Hosdurg Fort, a historic site less known to many travelers.
The day ended with a Malabar seafood dinner by the shore—an unforgettable finale to our Bekal experience.
Farewell to Paradise
As our journey concluded at Mangalore Airport, we carried memories of Kerala’s diversity: Wayanad’s hills, Bekal’s coast, and the people’s warmth. Luxury travel here was not only about indulgence but also about immersion in nature and culture.
