Amboseli Serena

Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge

Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge sits within the open plains of Amboseli National Park with clear views toward Mount Kilimanjaro.

The lodge was designed to resemble a traditional Maasai village, with stone buildings arranged around landscaped gardens. Because of its central position within the park, guests enjoy easy access to the wetlands and plains where Amboseli’s wildlife gathers.

Although larger than many boutique camps, Amboseli Serena remains one of the classic lodges of the park and offers reliable access to the region’s famous elephant herds.

Landscape & Setting

Amboseli Serena Lodge stands on open savannah plains overlooking the wider landscapes of the park.

The surrounding terrain consists of dry lakebeds, grasslands and seasonal wetlands that are fed by underground water from Mount Kilimanjaro. These wetlands attract wildlife throughout the year and form the ecological centre of the park.

Meanwhile, Kilimanjaro rises beyond the plains, creating the dramatic mountain backdrop that has made Amboseli one of the most photographed safari landscapes in Africa.

Dry season conditions provide excellent wildlife viewing as animals gather around the wetlands.

Clear skies often produce dramatic views of Mount Kilimanjaro.

April – May / November
Seasonal rains bring greener landscapes and fewer visitors.

Because the wetlands remain active throughout the year, wildlife viewing remains reliable in most seasons.

Meanwhile, elephants frequently move across the marshlands during the cooler hours of the day.

Late afternoon often provides the most dramatic light for photography across the plains.
