Ol Pejeta Bush Camp
Ol Pejeta Bush Camp is a small, traditional safari camp located within Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya’s Central Highlands.
The camp sits in a quiet corner of the conservancy along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, surrounded by acacia woodland and open savannah plains. As a result, the setting feels notably more secluded than many larger camps in the region.
Because of its position within one of Kenya’s most important conservation areas, the camp provides direct access to Ol Pejeta’s renowned rhino populations and wildlife-rich landscapes beneath Mount Kenya.

Landscape & Setting
The landscape around Ol Pejeta Bush Camp combines open savannah plains with riverine woodland and distant views of Mount Kenya.
The Ewaso Nyiro River runs through this part of the conservancy, attracting wildlife that moves between grazing areas and water sources throughout the day.
Meanwhile, Mount Kenya rises on the eastern horizon, particularly visible in the early morning when the peaks appear above the plains.
Thanks to its quieter location within the conservancy, the camp offers a strong sense of wilderness despite being within a well-managed wildlife area.

Accommodation
Ol Pejeta Bush Camp maintains the character of a classic safari tented camp, designed to blend naturally into the surrounding environment.
Accommodation includes a small number of spacious canvas tents featuring:
- Comfortable safari-style bedrooms
- Private verandas overlooking the river or plains
- Ensuite bathrooms with safari showers
- Traditional canvas and wood construction
The tents are widely spaced, creating a relaxed and intimate safari atmosphere.

Safari Experience / Activities
Ol Pejeta Conservancy offers one of the most diverse safari programmes in Kenya’s Central Highlands.
Activities from Ol Pejeta Bush Camp include:
• Game drives across Ol Pejeta Conservancy
• Visits to the northern white rhino sanctuary
• Exploring the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary
• Rhino conservation experiences
• Wildlife viewing beneath Mount Kenya
Because the conservancy is privately managed, safari activities often feel less crowded than in larger national parks.

Wildlife
Ol Pejeta Conservancy supports a wide variety of wildlife species.
Wildlife encounters commonly include:
• Black rhinoceros
• White rhinoceros
• Elephant and buffalo
• Lion and leopard
• Grevy’s zebra
• Numerous plains antelope
In addition, the conservancy protects the last remaining northern white rhinos, making it one of the most important conservation landscapes in Africa.

When to Visit
Ol Pejeta Bush Camp can be visited throughout the year.
June – October
Dry conditions provide excellent wildlife viewing across the plains.
December – March
Clear skies often reveal impressive views of Mount Kenya.
April – May / November
Rainfall during these months brings greener landscapes and fewer visitors.
The highland climate ensures comfortable temperatures in most seasons.

Insider Tips
Morning game drives often produce the best wildlife sightings before temperatures rise across the plains.
Because the camp sits near the river, wildlife occasionally moves close to camp during the evening hours.
In addition, the quieter location allows guests to enjoy a more traditional safari atmosphere compared with larger conservancy lodges.

Oloi Shorua Must-Do
Visit the northern white rhino sanctuary in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, where the last surviving northern white rhinos are protected under constant monitoring.
This conservation effort remains one of the most important wildlife protection projects in Africa.
Oloi Shorua Recommend
We recommend combining a morning game drive with a visit to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, which provides refuge for rescued chimpanzees and forms an important part of Ol Pejeta’s conservation work.
