The Cliff
The Cliff Nakuru occupies one of the most dramatic locations in Lake Nakuru National Park, perched high on a cliff overlooking the lake.
From its elevated position the lodge enjoys uninterrupted views across the alkaline waters of Lake Nakuru, whose shoreline has long been famous for flamingos and abundant birdlife. Because the property sits within the national park itself, wildlife is often visible directly from the lodge.
The Cliff combines the atmosphere of a luxury tented camp with the dramatic setting of a hillside lodge, making it one of the most distinctive properties in the Rift Valley.

Landscape & Setting
Lake Nakuru lies within a volcanic basin surrounded by forested hills and escarpments of the Great Rift Valley.
The lodge stands along the western edge of the lake where cliffs drop sharply toward the shoreline below. Meanwhile, acacia woodland and open grasslands spread across the park, providing habitat for a wide range of wildlife.
From the lodge terraces the view extends across the entire lake basin, creating one of the most impressive panoramas in the Rift Valley.

Accommodation
Accommodation at The Cliff consists of a small number of luxury tented suites positioned along the cliff edge.
Features include:
- Spacious safari tents with panoramic lake views
- Private decks overlooking Lake Nakuru
- Ensuite bathrooms with freestanding bathtubs
- Elegant safari-style interiors
Because each suite faces the lake, guests enjoy uninterrupted views across the surrounding landscape.

Safari Experience / Activities
Staying inside Lake Nakuru National Park provides direct access to the park’s wildlife areas.
Activities may include:
• Game drives across Lake Nakuru National Park
• Rhino viewing across the park’s grasslands
• Birdwatching along the lakeshore
• Exploring the forested hills surrounding the lake
Because the lodge lies within the park, wildlife viewing often begins shortly after leaving the property.

Wildlife
Lake Nakuru National Park protects one of Kenya’s most important rhino sanctuaries.
Wildlife sightings may include:
• Black rhinoceros
• White rhinoceros
• Lion and leopard
• Buffalo and zebra
• Rothschild’s giraffe
In addition, the lake supports large populations of flamingos, pelicans and other water birds.

When to Visit
The Cliff Nakuru can be visited throughout the year.
June – October
Dry season conditions provide excellent wildlife viewing.
January – March
Clear skies often produce striking views across the lake.
April – May / November
Seasonal rains create greener landscapes and strong birdlife activity.
Because the park protects permanent water sources, wildlife viewing remains rewarding in most seasons.
Insider Tips
Early morning game drives often provide the best opportunities to see rhinos across the open plains.
Meanwhile, late afternoon light across the lake creates particularly striking views from the lodge terraces.
Because the lodge sits high above the shoreline, wildlife sightings sometimes occur directly from the suites.
Oloi Shorua Must-Do
Take an early morning game drive to search for black and white rhinos across the plains of Lake Nakuru National Park, one of the most reliable rhino habitats in Kenya.
Oloi Shorua Recommendation
We recommend requesting a front-facing suite overlooking the lake, as the elevated views across the Rift Valley basin are one of the defining features of staying at The Cliff.
