Kicheche Bush Camp
Olare Motorogi Conservancy, Maasai Mara — Kicheche
Kicheche Bush Camp sits in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy — a different section of the Mara ecosystem from the Kicheche Mara Camp, which operates in Mara North. Both camps share the same Kicheche brand values: small scale, exceptional guiding, two guests per vehicle and a classic tented camp aesthetic that prioritises the field experience over architectural spectacle.
The Olare Motorogi Conservancy is one of the strongest big cat areas in the entire Mara ecosystem. Additionally, it is the same conservancy as Mara Plains and Mahali Mzuri — but Kicheche Bush Camp approaches it differently. Fewer guests, bucket showers, canvas and simplicity. The camp is for travellers who want the guiding and the wildlife without the luxury infrastructure.

Location and Landscape
The Olare Motorogi Conservancy covers 35,000 acres bordering the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Private management keeps vehicle numbers very low. Consequently, game drives carry a quality of space that the main reserve cannot consistently deliver. Off-road driving and night drives are permitted. Lion, leopard and cheetah are encountered regularly — the conservancy’s open rolling terrain is particularly productive for cheetah. Furthermore, the conservancy falls directly on Great Migration routes between July and October.

Accommodation
Canvas tents sit on simple platforms with private verandas and ensuite bathrooms with hot bucket showers. The interiors are understated and comfortable. Nothing competes with the landscape for attention — the same deliberate restraint that defines Kicheche Mara Camp applies here. A family suite is available for groups travelling with children. However, the camp is at its best for couples and serious wildlife travellers who want small group game drives with maximum guide attention.

Safari Experience
Game drives access the Olare Motorogi Conservancy and the wider Maasai Mara National Reserve. Because the conservancy operates privately, guides go off-road and track animals through the bush. Night drives run after dark. Walking safaris are available in appropriate areas. Kicheche limits vehicles to two guests per car — consequently, each drive feels closer to a private guiding session than a standard game drive. Wildlife photographers choose this camp specifically for that reason.
When to Visit
The Olare Motorogi Conservancy delivers strong wildlife viewing throughout the year. However, July through October brings the Great Migration through the conservancy. Wildebeest and zebra move across the terrain directly — often with very few vehicles present. December through March brings dry conditions and excellent predator activity. Additionally, April and May offer lush green landscapes and notably lower rates.
Combining Kicheche Bush Camp with Other Kenya Destinations
Kicheche Bush Camp pairs naturally with Laikipia for a wider Kenya circuit. Borana, Lewa or Segera add highland terrain and rhino. Samburu to the north brings the frontier ecosystem. Furthermore, the Kenya coast closes a journey naturally at the Indian Ocean.
