Singita Serengeti House

Singita Serengeti House

Sasakwa Hill, Singita Grumeti Reserve — Singita

Singita Serengeti House sits on the southeast slopes of Sasakwa Hill. The property overlooks a watering hole frequented by wildlife throughout the day. Unlike a shared-occupancy lodge, the house operates as a private, exclusive-use home. It includes an eat-in family kitchen, a spacious living area and a veranda. These are built specifically for families and groups of friends travelling together.

A full team comes with the house on every stay. This includes a private field guide, host, chef and dedicated staff. Guests also get private access to the wider Grumeti wilderness. The migration route, in addition, passes close by each year.

Location and Landscape

Serengeti House sits on Sasakwa Hill, giving it the same elevated outlook as its neighbouring lodge. A watering hole, however, sits directly in view from the main living areas, adding a benefit the lodge doesn’t share. Lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo count among the regularly sighted wildlife here. So do cheetah, eland, gazelle and Maasai giraffe. Because the reserve is privately managed, wildlife moves through the concession largely undisturbed by outside vehicle traffic.

Accommodation

The house comprises four one-bedroom suites in total. Two sit within the main house, and two further garden suites stand apart from it. This configuration suits a family or group wanting shared common spaces. It also offers private sleeping quarters, unlike the fully independent suites at Singita’s other Grumeti properties.

A 25-metre infinity pool sits in front of the main house. Alongside it sit a private tennis court, a fitness centre, a tented wellness suite and a media room. These amenities, in short, are built for an extended stay by a single travelling party, rather than a typical overnight safari camp.

Safari Experience

A dedicated field guide leads daily morning and afternoon game drives. These conclude with an evening return that reveals the property’s nocturnal wildlife. Guests aged 16 and older can also join guided walking safaris. Hot air balloon safaris, meanwhile, remain available at additional cost.

The private tennis court, media room and wellness suite extend the day well beyond conventional game-drive activity. Because the house operates on an exclusive-use basis, these facilities are reserved solely for the booking party. Stargazing, birdwatching and wine tastings, for example, round out the activity list. So do cooking classes and guided meditation and yoga. A community visit through the Grumeti Fund is also on offer.

When to Visit

A fairly constant, equatorial climate defines Singita Grumeti throughout the year. From November to May, the Green Season brings long warm days. Short downpours arrive too, transforming the reserve into lush grassland. From June to October, by contrast, comes the traditional migration season, with warm, dry, sunny conditions as the herds move through the wider ecosystem.

Practical Information

Scheduled flights and private charters both reach the Sasakwa airstrip. Singita arranges these directly within the Grumeti Reserve. However, checked baggage on scheduled flights is limited to 15kg. Flight time from Kilimanjaro runs roughly 1 hour 15 minutes direct. From Arusha Airport, instead, it’s closer to an hour.

The house sits in a malaria-risk area. Therefore, guests should consult a doctor about antimalarial requirements beforehand. Current vaccination guidance is also worth checking ahead of travel. Unlike Singita’s other Grumeti lodges, no Kosher or Halaal meal facilities are available here. Check-in runs from 14h00, with check-out at 11h00. Guests wanting an earlier check-in or later check-out must book an additional night at the day-use rate.

Combining Singita Serengeti House with Other Tanzania Destinations

The same Grumeti concession holds Singita’s other Serengeti properties. These include Sasakwa Lodge, Faru Faru Lodge, Sabora Tented Camp and Explore. As a result, a multi-property Grumeti stay is straightforward, without changing airstrips. Beyond the reserve, similarly, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire both extend the journey naturally. Zanzibar, meanwhile, offers a coastal close to a wider circuit.

Our Tanzania Safari Guide covers wider planning. Nearby options, meanwhile, sit within Serengeti Safari Lodges. The full country collection, finally, appears at Luxury Tanzania Safari Lodges.
