Nomad Entamanu

Nomad Entamanu Ngorongoro

North-Western Crater Rim — Nomad Tanzania

Entamanu Ngorongoro sits on the crater’s north-western rim, the only lodge with views over both the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti plains beyond it. Ten cottage-style rooms make up the camp, each built to take full advantage of this genuinely unusual dual outlook. Nomad’s design favours simplicity and natural materials over the more theatrical style found at some neighbouring lodges.

Location and Landscape

The crater’s contained ecosystem supports an exceptionally dense, largely resident wildlife population. As a result, game drives here deliver strong sightings independent of season. Black rhino, lion and large herds of plains game all live within the crater floor, roughly an hour’s descent from the lodge’s rim position.

Accommodation

Each cottage-style room includes a private veranda, a wood-burning stove for cold rim evenings, and an en-suite bathroom with a deep bathtub. Locally sourced, handmade furnishings run throughout, a detail found, in fact, across all of Nomad’s camps. The communal lounge and dining area, in addition, opens onto the same dual crater-and-Serengeti view shared by the rooms.

Safari Experience

Daily descents into the crater explore its dense wildlife population in open 4×4 vehicles. Guided walks along the rim, in addition, offer a quieter, slower-paced alternative above the crater floor. Evenings, finally, gather around the fire before dinner, with views stretching out toward the Serengeti as the light fades.

When to Visit

The crater offers strong year-round game viewing, thanks to its contained ecosystem and resident wildlife. As a result, timing here depends more on weather and crowd preferences than on any single migration season.

Practical Information

Guests typically reach the camp by road from Arusha, roughly three to four hours, or by light aircraft to nearby airstrips followed by a transfer. Evenings on the rim turn genuinely cold. As a result, warm layers are essential year-round.

Combining Entamanu Ngorongoro with Other Tanzania Destinations

Entamanu’s dual-view position pairs naturally with Nomad’s other Serengeti properties, including Lamai and Kusini. Tarangire, similarly, extends easily into a wider northern Tanzania circuit.
