Mwiba Wildlife Reserve, Southern Serengeti Border — Legendary Expeditions
This Legendary Expeditions residence operates as an exclusive-use villa within the same Mwiba Wildlife Reserve as Mwiba Lodge. It offers a single travelling party, typically a family or group of friends, sole occupancy of a private, multi-bedroom home within the reserve. The main lodge shares its communal spaces among a handful of guest parties. The Private Residence, by contrast, removes that sharing entirely.
Location and Landscape
The residence sits within the same 129,530-acre private reserve as Mwiba Lodge, bordering the southern Serengeti and Ngorongoro ecosystems. Guests retain access to the same private-reserve advantages. These include walking safaris and night drives, plus activities not permitted within the national park boundary. At the same time, guests enjoy complete privacy at the accommodation itself.
Accommodation
The residence offers multiple bedrooms suited to a family or group. Some configurations, in addition, include a private plunge pool. Guests can, for instance, arrange exclusive dining within the residence itself. A dedicated butler service runs throughout the stay, distinct from the shared service model at the main lodge.
Safari Experience
As with Mwiba Lodge, every stay includes a privately allocated vehicle and guide. This brings unlimited game drives, day and night, across the reserve. Walking safaris and cultural visits with the Hadzabe, Datoga, Sukuma and Maasai communities are also included. Because the residence operates on an exclusive-use basis, all activities and dining can build entirely around a single group’s preferences and schedule.
When to Visit
January through March brings the calving season to the surrounding reserve, given its position at the migration’s southernmost extent. Outside this window, however, the reserve’s resident wildlife continues to deliver strong, low-density game viewing throughout the year.
Combining Mwiba Private Residence with Other Tanzania Destinations
The residence pairs naturally with a stay inside the Serengeti National Park itself. It also works well alongside Ngorongoro Crater as part of a wider northern Tanzania circuit. This suits larger family groups wanting a private base, alongside more conventional lodge stays elsewhere in the journey.
