Phinda Homestead sits on the edge of the reserve’s rare sand forest, in the north of Phinda Private Game Reserve. Four en-suite bedrooms make up this sole-use villa. As a result, a single group has the entire property, plus a dedicated team, to themselves throughout the stay.
Location and Landscape
The sand forest setting gives the villa a genuinely secluded feel, despite sitting within the same reserve as Phinda’s other lodges. Because the villa operates on a private-traversing basis, the booking party can access wildlife across all seven of Phinda’s habitats. Cheetah and black rhino both favour the surrounding terrain.
Accommodation
Large sliding doors and unique panel windows blur the line between the villa’s interiors and the bush outside. A private gym, spa and pool give guests space to unwind between game drives. An interactive kitchen, in addition, invites shared meals and stories over each dinner.
Safari Experience
A dedicated ranger, tracker, chef, butler and host shape every moment of the stay around the group’s own pace. Game drive times and meals, as a result, can be tailored entirely to preference. Guests can also track wildlife on foot, join conservation activities, or swap the bush for nearby ocean excursions.
When to Visit
Phinda offers strong year-round game viewing, thanks to its coastal rainfall pattern and varied habitats. The dry winter months, generally May through September, bring clearer sightings as vegetation thins.
Practical Information
Guests reach the villa via Phinda’s own private airstrip, served from Johannesburg or Durban. By road, the drive from Durban runs roughly three to three and a half hours.
