East Africa Tourist Visa: Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda

Last checked 15 October 2026.

The East Africa Tourist Visa is a single US$100 visa covering Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda, valid for 90 days with multiple entries between the three. It is popular for journeys combining a Kenyan safari with gorilla trekking in Rwanda or Uganda.

How it works

  • Countries covered: Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda only. Tanzania is not included.
  • Fee: US$100.
  • Validity: 90 days from issue, with multiple entries between the three countries. It cannot be extended.
  • Where to apply: through the country you will enter first, and you must enter that country first. Apply on Uganda’s visa portal or Rwanda’s Irembo portal if your journey starts there.
  • Leaving the region: if you leave the three countries, for example to visit Tanzania, the visa ends and you will need new visas to return.

Is it worth it?

It depends on your passport and your route. Many nationalities now pay nothing for Rwanda, and Kenya has replaced visas with its own electronic travel authorisation, so separate permits can sometimes cost less. Kenya’s rules for East Africa Tourist Visa holders should be confirmed before you travel; see our Kenya visa and eTA page. We look at this for every multi-country journey we plan.

Health on entry

Each country applies its own yellow fever rules at the border, and travel between the three can trigger a certificate check. See our yellow fever entry requirements by destination, and our guide to where to be vaccinated.

Beware of unofficial websites

Many look-alike websites sell visas at a mark-up. Apply only through the official government portal linked on this page.
