Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge
Central Serengeti, Seronera Area — Tanganyika Wilderness Camps
Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge sits on a gentle hillside in the central Serengeti, beside the Seronera River. This river provides a constant water source for resident and visiting wildlife throughout the year. As a result, the lodge’s position keeps every major part of the Serengeti within practical reach, from the Maasai kopjes to the Grumeti River.
Location and Landscape
The Seronera River’s permanent water draws a wide range of wildlife and birdlife to the riverine forest along its banks. This includes, for instance, the leopards that favour this kind of cover. Because of its central location, resident game viewing remains strong year-round, with the migration moving through the wider area at points across its annual cycle.
Accommodation
The lodge comprises 25 tents arranged in two rows along the hillside. Each sits on a sturdy timber platform with a private balcony, an en-suite bathroom with a spacious outdoor shower, and modern in-room amenities, including a tea-and-coffee station and bathrobes. The family tent links two standard units via a shared bathroom and private porch. An infinity pool, a genuine rarity for the Serengeti, sits within the camp’s communal area.
Safari Experience
Game drives explore the surrounding central Serengeti. Hot air balloon safaris, walking safaris, Maasai village visits and a gym, in addition, round out the camp’s facilities. The main building includes a lounge, a dining room with a large terrace, and both indoor and outdoor restaurant seating.
When to Visit
Kubu Kubu’s central position and permanent water source, therefore, sustain strong game viewing throughout the year. April to May and November to December, generally, are cited as the strongest windows for migration activity through this part of the park.
Combining Kubu Kubu Tented Lodge with Other Tanzania Destinations
Kubu Kubu pairs naturally with Tanganyika Wilderness Camps’ other Serengeti properties, Lahia Tented Lodge and Kati Kati Camp. This suits travellers wanting a range of styles within a single operator. Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire, similarly, both extend into a wider northern Tanzania circuit.
Our Tanzania Safari Guide covers wider planning. For more accessible camps, in addition, see Tanzania Safari Camps.
