Jabali Ridge
Jabali Ridge sits high on a rocky kopje in Ruaha National Park, with sweeping views across baobab plains toward the seasonal Mwagusi River. Asilia Africa runs the camp, widely regarded as Ruaha’s most sophisticated property. As a result, Jabali Ridge has become the natural first choice for travellers wanting genuine luxury within Tanzania’s largest national park.
Design and Setting
Eight suites sit tucked among the kopje’s granite boulders, each built to maximise the view from every angle. The bed, the bathroom and the private veranda all open directly onto the park beyond, with wooden shutters available when privacy is wanted. Bleached organic woods and African-inspired décor run throughout, blending the camp into its rocky surroundings rather than imposing on them.
A separate private house sits roughly 200 metres from the main camp. It comprises two master bedrooms and an additional twin room, each with its own en-suite bathroom. The house runs as its own entity, with a dedicated service team, private guide and vehicle, alongside its own pool and deck. Families and groups of friends use this house most often, while still enjoying access to the main camp’s infinity pool, spa and library.
Wildlife and Activities
Ruaha forms a genuine crossroads between East and Southern African habitats. It supports an estimated one-tenth of the world’s lion population, alongside cheetah, leopard, wild dog and over 550 recorded bird species. Game drives, night drives and walking safaris all feature here. Jabali is one of the few camps in Ruaha permitted to run night drives, a genuine point of difference from most competing properties.
The camp opens each year from June through March, with July through November generally offering the clearest dry-season game viewing. For travellers wanting Ruaha’s wildest landscapes paired with genuine five-star comfort, Jabali Ridge remains the park’s benchmark property.
