Little Chem Chem
Little Chem Chem sits in the eastern Chem Chem Concession, the smaller sibling of the larger lodge nearby. Just six guest tents make up the camp, including one for family use. As a result, this property offers the same ownership and conservation ethos as its larger sister, in a more intimate setting. Design and Setting at Little Chem Chem
Nicolas Negre and Fabia Bausch own and run both properties in this private reserve. They have given this camp a classic vintage character. Each tent includes a double bed or twin beds, a writing desk and a tea-and-coffee station, set against an earth-toned palette with splashes of safari green. A deep veranda roof extends well over the canvas walls, creating genuine shade between drives.
The camp sits within a landscape of large baobab trees and grassland sweeping toward Lake Burunge, between Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks. Tents sit closer together than at some other properties in the area. Sesame grass walls, however, give each one a real sense of privacy.
Activities and Family Fit
Game drives, night drives, walking safaris and animal tracking all feature here. Hot air balloon rides and cultural tours add further variety, alongside a dedicated children’s activity programme. Children aged six and older are welcome. There’s no minimum age when the camp is booked for exclusive use, making this one of the more family-friendly options within the wider reserve.
